Treat Dry Cough with Ayurveda
Dry cough, also known as Shushka Kasa, is a common type of cough in which no mucus is produced. Allergens or pollutants that get into the lungs, airways, or throat pipe cause the body to cough them out, which irritates the throat and respiratory tract. A persistent dry cough has the potential to progress to a chronic condition.

cough effectively.
- Turmeric milk : Turmeric milk, praised as a traditional remedy, is frequently used to soothe sore throats and dry coughs. Its effectiveness in treating respiratory tract infections accounts for its advantages. Turmeric’s active component, curcumin, reduces inflammation, which helps with dry cough and sore throat alleviation. Before going to bed, take some warm turmeric milk to ease your sore throat
- Ginger and honey cough syrup : Numerous respiratory conditions can be alleviated by ginger. It soothes inflammation and lessens phlegm. Honey is also an active ingredient in Ayurvedic medications for dry cough.Boil a piece of ginger in water. Filter thewater and mix in a teaspoon of honey and drink to soothe an infected throat pipe.
- Basil concoction :Tulsi, often known as holy basil, is commonly used in Ayurvedic cough syrups and expectorants for its immune-boosting properties. Boil water and soak basil leaves for 15 minutes. Filter the water and drink. Adding ginger and honey to the tea is good. Chewing tulsi leaves throughout the day will help you recover quickly.
- Eucalyptus steam : Eucalyptus oil is an extremely effective decongestant. It effectively combats infections and has anti-inflammatory and analgesic qualities. Combine 2-3 drops of eucalyptus oil with boiling water and inhale the vapour. Using eucalyptus oil to massage the throat and upper chest can also be effective.
- Consume turmeric powder mixed with honey thrice daily.
- Drink tea or coffee made with a decoction of sauf or aniseed.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon powder in warm water or tea and drink it for relief from throat irritability.
- Inhaling steam or boiled water that contain peppermint oil is effective for both dry as well as wet coughs
